AI for local businesses: where to start

You run a shop, a clinic, or a small service business. You don't have time to get into AI, and honestly you don't need to. You don't have to understand how a language model works to save an hour a day, any more than you need to understand an engine to drive to work.

These are the three places I almost always start with local businesses. None of them needs a new system or a big budget. They need you to try one thing.

1. Answers to the questions you get all the time

Think about the ten questions you answer over and over. "Are you open on holidays?" "How long is the wait?" "Can I cancel?" Put them in a document and let AI draft the answers in your tone. Then you paste, change a sentence, and send.

In a shop that's standard replies about delivery and returns. In a clinic, calm and clear messages about cancellations. In a service business, a friendly first reply to a quote request while you prepare the real one. The time saved is small each time. But it happens ten times a day.

2. Posts and copy without the blank-page problem

What takes time is rarely the writing itself. It's getting started from an empty page. Describe what you want to say in one sentence and ask for three versions:

Write three short Instagram captions for this week's offer:
coffee and a pastry for 49 kr, weekdays before 10am. Warm, local
tone, no hype, max two sentences.

You pick the best one and tidy it up. From "I should post something" to done in a few minutes.

3. Making sense of messy notes

Meetings, email threads, the scribbled note after a call with a customer. Paste the lot and ask for a bullet list of what to do next and who does it. AI is surprisingly good at finding the structure in something messy. And you stop carrying it all in your head.

Don't start by "adopting AI". Start with one task that annoys you every week, and fix it. The next one gets easier.

None of this makes you dependent on a tool, or on me. The opposite. The goal is for you to handle it yourself. Want help finding your first one? Book a free audit and we'll go through your week together and find where AI actually saves you time.
